Dotma from Hyvinkää is going to be the next great powermetal band, according
to their accompanying letter, and their first single doesn’t seem to be bad at all.
There’s a symphonic stuff going on with beautiful and strong female singing and
speed with guitars and keyboards, for a three songs, but there’s missing this
one perfect song. But they still have a small lack of personality, but on the
other hand, this is their first single so they’re still developing their own thing.
Lyrics are purely based on the Middle Ages and among the fantasy worlds, the sounds
themselves being very modern, and there’s not much folk musical instruments to hear,
except the climax on the last song. They have skills, there’s some nice hooks and
edges on the songs and the sounds, polished in the studio, are convincing, so
Dotma is fully developable band.

Hyvinkääläinen Dotma aikoo saatteensa mukaan nousta
seuraavaksi suureksi powermetal bändiksi, eikä tämä
yrityksen ensimmäinen ilmentymä vaikuta lainkaan hullummalta.
Sinfonista menoa, kaunista ja vahvaa naislaulua, sekä
nopeaa kitara/koskettimet tiluttelua tarjotaan kolmen
raidan verran, mutta sitä täydellistä kappaletta ei vielä
tästä nipusta löydy. Pientä noottia voisi antaa myös
persoonallisuuden puutteesta, mutta toisaalta – tämähän on
bändin ensimmäinen kiekko, joten kehitys on vasta alussa.
Sanoitukset liikkuvat puhtaasti keskiajan ja fantasiamaailmoiden
keskellä, itse soundien ollessa hyvinkin moderneja, eikä
demolla kuulla juuri folk-soittimia viimeisen biisin
kliimaksikohtia lukuunottamatta. Taitoa piisaa, kappaleissa
on mukavasti koukkua sekä särmää ja studiossa hiotut
soundit vakuuttavat, joten kyseessä on täysin kehityskelpoinen
yhtye.
